Our family’s involvement in youth sports programs began when our kids were around age six. That’s a bit late by some standards. There is so much that kids learn from participating in sports: determination, practice, teamwork, focus, motor skills, handling disappointment, dealing with conflict, decision making, following directions, self-confidence, and more. Besides, sports for kids can be just plain fun.
If you’ve not already signed your child up for a sport this season, then there are lots of youth sports programs around. There’s cheerleading, soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, karate, gymnastics…and the list goes on. Below are a few youth sports links to help you find a program for your budding athlete.
Your Kid Not Into Sports?
On the other hand, as a child, I was only moderately interested in sports. That may be the case for your child. Plenty of kids enjoy hobbies involving science, theatre, music, coding, and even magic. Yup! You guessed it. Magic was my jam.
A friend of mine teaches online magic classes that are fantastic. Virtual learning is a great way to learn with the aid of a live coach. Another great way to help your kiddo explore the wonder of magic is through books and videos. Consider the books below. I own and have learned from them both. The first one includes video instruction and covers mostly close-up magic. The second book covers close-up and stage magic. They are Amazon affiliate links. Using my links doesn’t cost you anything extra but sends me a new nickels.
Motivating Your Child for Sports
How old should my child be when I start them in sports? Which sport is best for first-time kids? Multiple sports or just one? Focus on skill or…?
These and several other questions are addressed in a great article over at Red Tricycle. Click here to read it.
Where Does a Magician Fit In?
Lastly, I’d be delighted to bring my jaw-dropping magic show to your team party. Or, maybe a birthday party, or scouting event, or school, or church, or home owner association, or wedding, or family reunion…. you get the idea… I fit in anywhere. Just holla.
